When You've Got Blue Skies, It's Going To Be A Great Day!

For Attendants

Here are some of the things you need to know as a potential attendant for Consumer Directed Services (CDS):

Application Process:

All potential attendants must complete an application for employment and be registered with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) (click for link to FCSR).  In order to be hired, potential attendants must at least 18 years old, not the spouse of the customer/consumer, authorized to work in the United States and must have no disqualifying history.

If you are interested in completing an attendant application on your computer, click to complete this form: Attendant Employment Application (for completion on computer).

If you prefer to print the attendant application and complete manually, click to complete this form:  Attendant Employment Application (for manual or handwritten completion).

General information for completing the attendant employment application is available here:  Attendant Employment Application Instructions.

Continued Employment:

After hiring, authorization for work is checked via E-Verify (Federal Employment Verification) and regular inquiries are made to the Missouri Employee Disqualification List (EDL) and OIG-HHS’ List of Excluded Individual and Entities (LEIE) on employed attendants. Findings on any of these checks may effect continued employment.

Consumer Direction:

Services authorized by the Dept. of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) through the CDS program are directed by the customer/consumer, therefore the attendants/employees are under the direction of the customer/employer to provide the authorized services. Blue Skies Home Care LLC serves as fiscal intermediary and provides oversight to ensure services are provided as the customer and DHSS intend. Attendants are employed by the customer/consumer, not  Blue Skies Home Care LLC.

Attendants Duties:

Eligible consumers (customers) of CDS are assessed by DHSS and then given a Plan of Care that outlines the approved tasks and approximate amounts of time to complete these tasks. Customers work with their attendant(s) to develop a weekly schedule to accomplish these tasks. Attendants record work times and tasks using a telephony system and/or paper time sheets signed by attendants and customers.

Pay Schedule and Rate:

Attendants are paid by Blue Skies Home Care LLC on behalf of the customer during the week following the end of the bi-weekly pay cycle.  Although errors slow our payroll process, Blue Skies’ staff make every effort to resolve these problems without delay in attendant salary payment.  All federal and state tax withholdings including unemployment compensation and garnishments (when applicable) are paid. Blue Skies Home Care LLC offers the superior wage for CDS attendants throughout Missouri. Our starting attendant wage ranges from $9.20 to $10.00 per hour, depending on area and experience. Call one of the local offices or “Contact Us” for application, referral or general information for your area. Many of our attendants referred a family member or friend for service.

Report Abuse, Neglect or Exploitation:

Blue Skies Home Care LLC staff and CDS attendants are mandated reporters of abuse, neglect or exploitation of people that are elderly or have disabilities. The Elder Abuse Hotline in Missouri is (800) 392-0210.
